Post-Operative Cognitive Changes
Neuropsychological evaluation can assist in candidacy determination and assessing pre and postoperative cognitive functioning for those with epilepsy (resection, laser ablation) and movement disorders (DBS, guided ultrasound). Neuropsychological evaluation can also facilitate assessment of cognitive functioning before and after shunting in the setting of normal pressure hydrocephalus or before and after surgical removal of brain tumors. Additionally, some individuals report a sense of brain fog and other cognitive changes following other types of major surgeries or prolonged anesthesia, and we provide objective testing to pinpoint these changes and guide recovery.
