Neurodiversity Affirmative Approach
Approach
Our team understands that brain differences exist and are part of human diversity. We're here to educate and increase insight. Our job is not to fix differences. We can provide tools to help cope with differences if this is part of your goals but ultimately we hope acceptance and advocacy will support you in your journey. Some members of our team understand that brain differences exist and are part of human diversity. Unique Strengths
We work together to idendify areas of unique strengths. Often, neurodivergent individuals are told about their deficit, problems, and challenges. Our approach is to highlight differences in a positive way. Instead of changing these, we work with you or your family to change environments and encourage you to speak up for your needs.
Relationships
Relationships can occasionally be a source of stress for neurodivergent individuals. We emphasize the importance fostering authentic and healthy connections that strive to understand you. Our aim is to encourage self-awareness and honesty. Furthermore, we can help you work through trauma from relationships, as healing past experiences will allow you to cultivate healthier and more positive ones.
Neurodiversity is often misunderstood and not fully embraced. Consider the rigid expectations in schools and workplaces. Many professionals still perceive treatment as a way to disguise differences, which result in Autistic Burnout. We recognize that change is gradual, and we're committed to supporting and educating others through this journey with you.
