Hello! I’m Aysia Smith, a clinical psychology diagnostic practicum student. I am extremely excited and grateful to be given an opportunity to work with diverse mental health professionals at Dr. Lake & Associates with direct supervision from Dr. Monica Lake and program supervisors at FSPP. I have a strong passion to support and improve the mental health of others. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida and now I’m enrolled in the clinical psychology doctoral program at the Florida School of Professional Psychology (FSPP) at National Louis University. I have clinical experience as Registered Behavior Technician working with children and adolescents from ages 2 to 17 years old dealing with autism spectrum disorder, social anxiety, pica, and trauma. This experience, has contributed to a strong interest in working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and populations. I’m interested in understanding challenges individuals are experiencing through assessment and evaluation. The importance of providing support to individuals seeking assistance is extremely crucial and my goal is to ensure I’ve provided an accurate representation of their experiences. I’ve done training for cognitive and personality assessments including the WAIS-IV, PAI, and MMPI-2. I believe assessments also contribute to navigating through unique situations in life as well as daily functioning. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, baseball, walks with my dog, and spending time with family and friends.
