As a clinical neuropsychologist, my job is to measure cognitive abilities. I interpret performance from a series of tests to make conclusions about how the brain is functioning. Adults (especially those over 65) who have concerns about their memory, word finding, processing speed, or other cognitive skills are commonly referred by their neurologist when these concerns arise. Usually, it is most helpful for a loved one to be involved to provide observational data that the neuropsychologist cannot directly evaluate in the office.
